Season 2011/12 LBC Open The final grand Prix of the season LBC Open was held at Sandwick Social Club on Saturday with 34 men and 10 women entering, with crucial inter county points up for grabs nerves were to play there part during the evening with players knowing how far they needed to get to clinch a spot in the team. By the quarter finals the county team was sorted and the players could get on with trying to win the shield. Defending champion Roger Irvine beat George Smith to book his place in the semi's as did Brian Patterson with a victory over Andrew Swannie, Angus Galbraith was next through defeating Alan Patterson and Gareth MacRitchie completed the line up winning through against Steven Struthers. In the first semi Roger made it to the final again with a good win over Brian, and Angus joined him beating Gareth. So to the final with two of the games best local players battling for the title it was Roger's turn to win in a very good match and retain his title There were 180's recorded from Andrew Swannie, Brian Patterson, George Smith, Neal Redfern, Tommy Williamson and two from Roger Irvine. In the women's competition after a round robin on two boards Vickki Scott and Eleanor Irvine reached the final with Vickki coming out on top the win.
