Season 2011/12 Shetland Doubles After the disappointment of the Shetland Open singles being postponed due to bad weather 28 pairs turned up at the Lerwick Legion for the Shetland doubles. At the quarter final stage George Smith & Paul Scarsbrook lost the first two legs against Alan Patterson & George Mackay but came roaring back to win 4-2, next up defending champs Andrew Simpson & Tommy Williamson did similar coming back from three one down to win 4-3 against Philip Mowat & Roger Irvine, Jim Wood & Neal Redfern had a comfortable 4-0 win over Iain Blance & Marc Henry and finally Brian Patterson & Paul Tait won a tight game 4-3 over Danny Irvine & Jimmy Sandison. In the semis it was not to be three in a row for Andrew & Tommy as they lost 5-0 to George & Paul, and Jim & Neal also won through to the final beating Brian & Paul 5-1. In the final George & Paul went 4-1 up but Jim & Neal won the next two legs pulling it back to 4-3 however George & Paul showed there's no substitute for experience winning the next two to claim the title by 6 legs to 3. There were 180's from Philip Mowat x2, Marc Henry x2, Andy Glen, D J Anderson, Andrew Simpson, Roger Irvine and Tommy Williamson.
