Season 2010/11 Shetland Doubles Friday night saw the SDA Shetland Doubles being played in the Lerwick Legion, a good turnout of 34 pairings entered the draw and after the opening rounds the quarter-finals were as follows. In the top half of the draw there was two very close matches with Jim Wood & Neal Redfern winning 5-4 against Ronnie Johnson & Barry Couper and Nigel Llewellyn & Colin Tulloch beating Alan Patterson & Paul Tait by the same score 5-4. In the bottom half of the draw there were more comfortable wins for George Mackay & Jimmy McClure over Dougie Goudie & Steven Struthers 5-2 and defending champions Andrew Simpson & Tommy Williamson over Ian Hannah & Victor Young 5-1. In the first semi-final Nigel & Colin played very well to beat teammates Jim & Neal 5-2, while Andrew & Tommy won a tough game against George & Jimmy 5-3.In the final itself Andrew & Tommy went 2-1 up, the third leg proved to be the key one with both pairings being on a double after just 12 darts unfortunately for Nigel & Colin the Bar Stewards pairing hit it and went on to win 6-1.This is the first time a pairing has managed to defend the title so well done to Andrew & Tommy (on his 40th birthday).
