Season 2011/12

Dianne McDonald Singles

The latest grand prix of the season Diane McDonald singles was played at the Lerwick Legion on Friday night with just like last year 39 players turning up. In the quarter finals it was good to see some new faces getting through, the first of which was Steven Isbister but sadly for him it was against man of the moment Neal Redfern won won 4-1, next up was last weeks doubles champs Paul Scarsbrook and George Smith with the latter coming back from 2-0 downn to win 4-2, another two less familiar faces were up next win Craig Main beating Craig Smith 4-3, and finally George Mackay beat Peter Mackay 4-0. In the semi final Neal beat last years winner George 5-3 in a cracking game of darts with big scoring and some clinical finishing, the second semi saw George winning through 5-2 against Craig. In the final George continued to play well but there is no stopping Mr Redfern at the moment as he eased to yet another title winning a good game 6-2.

There were 180's recorded from, George Smith x2, George Mackay, Angus Galbraith, Michael Pottinger, D J Anderson, Tommy Williamson.

High checkouts recorded, Neal Redfern 120 & 103, Tommy Williamson 120 & 108, Craig Main 117, George Smith 116, Paul Scarsbrook 113, Barry Couper 108.

The SDA committee would again like to thank the Legion for hosting the competition.
