Season 2011/12 Cricket Singles On Saturday night it was the turn of the Cricket singles at the Lerwick Legion in the penultimate Grand Prix of the season with all important inter county points at stake. 32 men entered the draw and after the first two rounds of 2 innings of 11 wickets the quarter finals (3 innings) saw Mr consistent this season Barry Couper beat Angus Galbraith, J R Scott got the better of Andy Glen, Gordon Irvine beat Gareth MacRitchie and George Smith ended Nigel Llewellyn's great weekend to complete the semi final line up. In the semi's which was best of 3 sets John Robert booked his place in the final with a good win over Barry 2 sets to 1, and he was joined by Gordon who beat George by the same score (Gordon also hit the perfect 3 bulls 6 wickets during the game). So with two more unfamiliar faces in the final it was Gordon who came out on top with a 2-0 win over John Robert to came his first Grand Prix title. As always a big thank you to the Lerwick Legion who also had inter county pool to contend with over the weekend for hosting the competition. (Above left to right, runner up John Robert Scott, Pamela Brown and winner Gordon Irvine).
