Saturday night saw the sixth Grand Prix the Cricket singles being played at the Lerwick Legion, 28 players entered the draw and after the early rounds which saw defending champion Andrew Swannie knocked out in the first round there was to be a new name on the shield. At the quarter final stage which was best of three innings Gareth MacRitchie beat Jim Wood, Andy Glen won through against Barry Couper, Tommy Williamson beat Marc Henry and John Robert Scott got the better of Dougie Goudie. In the first semi final which was best of four innings Gareth's stronger scoring proved to much for Andy and Tommy eased through to the final as John Robert struggled to hit the treble twenty. The final was best of three sets two innings a set, Tommy won a very tight first set by only a few points, which set him up to win the next and his first singles Grand Prix title.
