SDA SINGLES 2010/11

The first Grand Prix of the season was contested for on Saturday night in the Lerwick Legion, 42 players turned up full of expectation and inter county dreams but as the competition reached the quarter-finals there were familiar names left in the draw. In the first match two big hitters clashed with Roger Irvine beating Paul Tait 4 - 2, in the second match Marc Henry edged out Andrew Swannie 4 - 3, next up was veteran Vic Young who lost by the odd leg in seven 4 - 3 to Neal Redfern, the last quarter-final saw another clash of the titans with Angus Galbraith seeing off Ronnie Johnson 4 - 2. So to the semi's Roger played well to earn his place in the final beating Marc 5 - 2, in the other semi Angus was in fine form easing past Neal by the same score. The final produced some excellent darts from both players but it was to be Angus who was to claim yet another title winning by 6 legs to 3. There were too many 180's to mention but high checkouts were as follows.Geogre Smith 118 & 100, Roger Irvine 116 & 110, Neal Redfern 120, Angus Galbraith 115, Marc Henry 100, and Paul Tait had the highest with 130. In the womens competition a round robin was played with Glynis Harcus beating Vickki Scott in the final.

Thanks again goes to the British Legion for hosting the event.
