Charlie Zoom Memorial 2011

Saturday night saw the opening darts competition of the new season, 32 players turned up for the Charlie Zoom memorial in the Lerwick Legion the format as last year one leg of 1001 straight through to the final. After the early rounds the quarter final line up saw Barry Couper beat George Jamieson, Neal Redfern beat Gareth MacRitchie, defending champion Ronnie Johnson beat Dave Riley and Charlie's son Gareth beat Shaun Adamson. In the first semi final Neal won a very tight game against Barry and Ronnie put an end to Gareth's chances of winning his dad's trophy. In a final of good quality Neal's big scoring was to win him the shield which over the whole night he deserved playing some fantastic darts. Thanks goes to the Legion for hosting the event and to Sandra MacRitchie for selling the raffles, £500 was raised for LOONS (Limbless Organisation of North East Scotland).
